They need to have something to incise so waiting is likely the best approach. I had one years ago and it developed over the course of about
5 days. I would just set up an arrangement with the surgeon that they will get you in right away if needed since they can become painful.
I believe it was Old Mike who would just allow them to drain on their own. He wouldn't have them incised. It is possible that they can just mildly fester and then clear up. It's also possible that it's just a hemorrhoid and the lymph node is unrelated.
Believe it or not, I know 3 other people without IBD who've had these abscesses so don't go down the "I have Crohn's" rabbit hole. If you do, in fact, have one, it doesn't automatically mean you have Crohn's. UCers are at an elevated risk for them as well, just much less so than those with Crohns.
