Doctors in NJ/NYC Metropolitan area

As we all know it’s really hard to find a good GI doctor. Any recommendations for mds in northern nj/nyc. Thanks!

Northern NJ I can't vouch for, but Manhattan has IBD subspecialist gastroenterologists at Weill Cornell Med Center, E. 68th St. (including a branch office in lower Manhattan at Williams St.), Mt. Sinai Med Center at E. 98-102nd St., and NYU Langone Med Center in E. 25th-30th St. area. You can check out their Websites and read about their physicians, also check out current patient recommendations on HealthGrades Website. You know best what kind of doctor you feel comfortable with in terms of age, & personality, & experience-- so looking at those sites would help you narrow choices, in line with your treatment needs. I myself found a terrific young IBD subspecialist in Manhattan 30 yrs ago who changed med center affiliations twice since then, and I decided to stay with this doctor both times because that connection was really what made my form of UC manageable over time, with minimal complications/side effects from Rx meds. You could also check the CCFA Website for physician recommendations geared to northern NJ. (I initially found my subspecialist through CCFA.) / Old Hat (39 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

If your 20 minute commute to NYC includes GW Bridge, you could also check out gastroenterologists on Website at Columbia University Medical Center, W. 168th St. Three yrs of flaring is too much! I suffered for 10 yrs with about 3 flare-ups annually before finding my IBD subspecialist, plus fewer meds were available for us in 1980s-90s. It sounds like you need a gastro with more experience & strategies for achieving remission. Weill Cornell's Roberts IBD Center is offering televideo visits with their MDs during the pandemic, in case that would help you with an initial consultation.
