Hello all,
50 yo female, dx 15 years ago, some small flares, one HUGE flare three years ago put me on pred for 54 weeks (I know, insane, terrible titration and unresponsive doc.)
Just started a pretty intense flare, came on very strong as opposed to usual indicators. New GI (who I really like!) has started me on Budesonide 3x morning ( 9 mgs I believe) as preferred first step, along with steroid and rowasa enemas.
I am on day 5 and not seeing any great improvement. I know this is a synthetic 'steroid' and does not have the punch of pred, which is great. But what are your experiences with Budesonide oral in how quickly it starts to address symptoms (urgency, bleeding, etc....the usual!). My understanding is about
1-2 weeks, again, because it is less "potent" than pred.
Thanks in advance and send some healing energy please,
P
(4.8 mg lialda, now budesonide, curcumin, milk thistle, multiple supplements, Kefir and pro b)

Hi my very first flare i had i took uceris and it worked right away. I took it again 2 years later it worked but much slower! Recently, I have been flaring I tried uceris but did not do much maybe because my body got used to it! I wish I can still take it i barely had side effects. Prednisone gave me terrible side-effects.

It took a good 2 weeks for it to work for me. Before that I was pred. dependent and in between biologics. I’m now on Stelara and doing good so far

Budesonide is meant for mild to slightly moderate flares only. Severe flares necessitates much stronger Prednisone.
Budesonide should show results in about
2 weeks time or less. Any longer then it's not working.
