Entyvio failed?

I started Entyvio in November after 8 years using just Lialda and rectal meds as needed. We could not get the flare under control, even with steroid rectal meds. Started Prednisone at 40mg and it did not get me out of the flare, so off to Entyvio. I started to see slow improvement after the loading doses but started to have an uptick in symptoms as I approached week 7 before the infusion. We went to dosing every 6 weeks after an insurance battle (of course). Had my colonoscopy last month and still had severe inflammation in the rectum. So, now I am on every 4 weeks (just had my second dose). I am using Uceris foam right now to "get me over the hump". Hopefully, this will work, but I will use the rectal meds (mesalamine) for ever most likely. I feel 85% there and time will tell. I do have bouts of nausea, but they pass quickly. I get weird low grade fevers around week 2 after the infusion for about 3 days (nothing over 99). I also feel tired for two days post infusion. For some Entyvio works more quickly than it has for me, but I am staying the course for a year and will see where we are then. I am sorry you are having a rough go of it, but I would keep going for a little while, as steroids are really not good for you in the long term. Wishing you the best.

I’ve been on entyvio for 3 1/2 yrs and in remission since about 4-5 months after starting. I have no side effects.

You’ve been on steroids a long time! Could the nausea be due to the taper?

Entyvio does take a while to kick in so you definitely need to give it longer.
Are you on any rectal meds? Oral mesalamine?

Can you get a blood test for entyvio concentration and antibiodies? See if you have enough entyvio. It's a slow acting med taking 10-12 weeks or more in some. Some need more frequent doses like every 4 weeks instead of 8.
