Ms2011, definitely. The article states that even one round of antibiotics in animals pre-disposed them to IBD.
Of course you're right, there are so many things, but one thing is for certain, auto-immune disease has a relationship and grows in frequency as countries become more industrialized. So there's a link or links there.
Gut microbiome seems to be a common reference as of late, with so many things that can disrupt such as antibiotics and chlorinated tap water and a diet that includes so many preservatives and artificial chemicals.
I know that some people say diet does nothing as there's no scientific evidence of immediate induction of inflammation from drinking chlorine or eating like crap, or maybe even taking an antibiotic. But the way we live has an overall impact on the way our bodies function. It's not hard to connect those dots, the hard part is finding out what the dots are and how we can fix them. If I knew the answer completely I wouldn't be taking an immune suppressant lol, but hopefully research keeps trending in the right direction, and people like us keep looking at these things and sharing them until something clicks.
