Hi- I just joined this group. So I was diagnosed with UC when I was pregnant with my son 7 years ago. I had a flare up and was put on steroids and pentasa. This eventually put me in remission. Shortly after, I went and saw a homeopathic doctor. I was not comfortable at the time with all of the side effects of the meds.
During the time of visiting my homeopath doc, I was no longer pregnant and took on smoking. Not heavy, more like 1-3 cigarettes a day. My Homepathic doctor went on and on about
the eat right for your blood type- im blood type O, so I gave up all Dairy and was careful with what I ate. If I ate a cheat food and started cramping, a cigarette usually calmed it down. I also started juicing regularly and took biogest and cortrex after each meal. (Natural medicine). Glutamine powder each morning.
Now fast forward to today- 7 years later. I quit smoking 5 months ago. I figured whats the point if I am risking lung cancer for the UC. (Colitis nicotine therapy). I have not seen a GI doctor for 7 years since I have just felt so great and never had any issues- even on my cheat food days. As of last saturday, my flare up began. I almost doubted whether it is even a flare up- could it be covid or the flu? But my only symtpom is diarrhea (blood) and abdominal cramping (severe). I have an appt this afternoon to meet a GI doctor. Has anyone quit smoking and had a flare up? Has any tried the homeopathic approach? I feel like I am crazy for not having a GI doctor for 7 years. Maybe quitting smoking triggered the flare up and I should not have quit. I am so confused right now and am just emotionally and physically drained.
