Hey guys, just interested to see if anyone is on Biologics (infliximab) and has it been a game changer for you ? I’m currently nearly 10 months remission which is the longest remission period for me in about
8 years. Pred always worked in getting me out of flares, but a flare would creep its way back usually 3/4 months later, resulting in me taking Pred far to much in a yearly period.
Eventually my doctor made the decision that as a young male of 35, I couldn’t keep taking this amount as it could eventually take its toll when I’m older, so made the decision to put me on Biologics infusions. I’m currently having my infusions now every 2.5 months and what a game changer for me. My health is now back to what it was.
I got married In italy a few weeks ago, so had a complete flare free wedding which was fantastic. I’m back to the gym 4 times a week keeping my fitness up. I was diagnosed when I was 25 and had an incredibly bad flare which hospitalised me for 2 weeks. I come out like a skeleton, but eventually managed to combat it through Pred and a Cyclosporine as my flare was that severe. I was in remission for roughly 3/4 years which was fantastic.
After that though as explained, I was constantly in and out of flares every 3/4 months with no real rest bite. I had an extremely bad C-Diff infection last year which hospitalised me again for 2 weeks. Horrendous and even worse than my original hospital UC flare. Finally got rid of C-Diff with the special meds for the disease. But I then got another UC flare 3 months later. That’s when I went on the Biologics. This infliximab seems to have been a game changer for me and touch wood, it’s keeping me healthy long term. Anyone else in the same boat ?
