I read lot of people had mild fever, soreness from the vaccine. I am wondering if anyone flared after covid vaccine. My biggest fear is UC flare from vaccine. I am on 6mp and planning to sign up soon.

A few posts down is a thread about the vaccines, some of the members have had the vaccines, so far no one has reported either of them inducing a flare. There are also members in the crohns forum that has had the vaccines with no problem.

I have 2 sisters with crohns disease living in the UK, they both got the Astra Zenica vaccine a few weeks ago and did not flare.
Tbh I'd be more worried about flaring from covid, especially if I would have to stop my medication while fighting covid.

That's a really good question, Pam. I hope more vaxxers chime in on this.

Whenever I get sick, I flare like clockwork, so I imagine the side effects some people are reporting would indeed trigger a flare for me (which isn't a nice thought).

I received my first dose in December and second in January. I was given Pfizer. Sore arm after the first dose and some chills and mild fever after the second that lasted a few hours after taking Tylenol. No flares or bowel changes whatsoever. I am on other IBD forums and social media groups and have not read anyone yet having adverse effects related to their IBD due to the vaccine. Get vaccinated when you can.

I had my first dose of the Astrazeneca here in the UK exactly a week ago.
No flare so far...touching wood.
The day after having it, I had some flu-like symptoms and a bit of cramps but nothing that a couple of paracetamol s could not sort out.

Astrazeneca - isn't it being investigated for blood clot issues in many countries of late? Recall reading something to that effect in the news.

Yes, since Wednesday some nordic countries and today Ireland have been suspending the use of AZ vaccine

Yes it is. They're not sure yet if it's statistically significant. The rate appears to be a few people per million (to be specific, 30 people out of 5 million vaccinated). But, covid also causes blood clotting even in young healthy people. So what do you do? (Writing this as someone who has been imprisoned by lockdown for 1 year and raging with jealousy for everyone who already got a vaccine. Oh and i already have 2 thrombosis risk factors so i don't want astra zenica but I also won't get a choice where i live)

I am now fully vaccinated with Moderna and I did well. I had some body aches and discomfort but no GI related issues .

Got Pfizer vaccine a couple of days ago no problems at all, not even a sore arm.
Some one mentioned being worried about having to give up their meds for some reason I am on Xeljanz and a couple of years back I had to give up my medication for a couple of weeks due to a knee replacement and I sailed through it for a couple of weeks with no problems

I received both shots of the Pfizer vaccine. Sore arm, some mild nausea and a few body aches. Nothing a little ginger tea and a couple of Tylenol couldn't handle.

I've been on azathioprine for 10+ years, I got my Pfizer vaccine last Friday, and I have experienced no side effects whatsoever.

Well, maybe I was tired yesterday because of it. Or maybe it was daylight savings time.

Pfizer on Friday, inflectra infusion today. No IBD symptoms.

After 2nd dose of Pfizer I had extreme chills and fatigue the next day that lasted about 24 hours -- wasn't horrible. No affect on bowels.

Thanks for all these posts. I go in 2 hours to get mine (not sure which one they will give me) and I am relieved to see no flares. Going to substitute teach at the HS in a week so I can't have a flare!!!

It is good to read all of the posts. I am getting my 1st dose of Pfizer today and am very apprehensive. I'm on mesalamine for UC, and it never occurred to me to ask if I should be on or off it for the vaccine. I also have congestive heart failure, but numbers are considered mild, so I know that I need to get the vaccine. Have been fearful that side effects will include GI, so am glad to see that people on this forum haven't had a lot of that. Thank you to those who have posted their experiences.

My son, with UC, got the Pzifer vaccine last week and was tired a bit that afternoon but otherwise zero side effects.

Thank you-glad to hear no side effects. Day after 1st dose & I have sore arm-no big deal, and a little bit of nausea. Hopefully that will be all for this round.

I got my 2nd dose of Moderna on Jan 28 and no difference in UC. I have been in remission since 2012.

I'm on azathioprine and other than a sore arm, I had no side effects. I got the Pfizer

Had my second shot a month ago with no problems...other than a sore arm and a few aches after the first shot. NO problems since. Better to get the shots and have the mental security, than to GET Covid. That's some really bad stuff for many who get it. Just spoke with my doctor this week...who DID get the virus. He said it was terrible and almost died. Pulse was 270 when he was admitted to the hospital!!! Get the shots!...my humble opinion. LOL

I did my Stelara shot on Wednesday and had the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Friday. My arm was a little sore but no other symptoms. My husband was a little emotionally overwhemed (he got his at the same time). The living in constant fear is almost over.
