I'd expect their to be prognostic tests in the next 10 or so years that take some of the trial-and-error out of treating us. Run a blood panel at diagnosis, know how aggressive our UC will be, know which meds will work or not (look for genetic traits of aggressive vs mild).
There will be more biologics using different mechanisms of action available.
I hope there will get a cure within our lifetimes, but I'm pessimistic about it.
Something along these lines is already being used I think https://www.predictimmune.com/predictsureibd/ but i think it does not predict which drugs will work best.
I know a few new medicines are about
to be approved so hopefully more people could be treated with these:
- rinvoq
- zeposia
- mirikizumab
- abx264
IPoop, I am with you in hoping that a cure will be found in our lifetime but not too optimistic about
it. God knows how much I would like to be wrong!!!
