It's not a new vaccine, it isn't even a vaccine for covid at all.
It's an attempt to discredit the actual vaccines which work.
(Taking advice from 'lewrockwell' on vaccines is indeed dredging up bullcrap ! )

There are rigorous clinical trials going on as we speak to determine whether BCG is effective against Covid-19. I don't see why anyone would be opposed to that.

Poopydoop posted an article yesterday about BCG, apparently it does not protect the elderly from the virus. It's being studied further for lung infections. Look on page 1 for her post.

I almost fell on the floor this afternoon when the GP called me and said they had some leftover vaccines and would I like to come in for an appointment....according to the national schedule it should have been mid May for immunocompromised patients.
So
I just had an Astrazeneca vaccine 🥳

Re BCG vaccines, I forget the scientific details but IAC is correct that there have been some clinical trials investigating whether the "general" immune response triggered by a BCG shot could have a protective effect against covid. This was intended as a potential stop-gap until covid-specific vaccines had been developed and become widely available. Unfortunately the trial results to date are not very encouraging.

Congratulations on nabbing a vaccination, Poopydoop!!!!!! Also many thanks for your science insights! I'm in NYC (Manhattan) where the injection rollout continues chaotic, and egomaniac politicians further complicate it lately by vastly expanding eligibility categories while the vaccine supply remains limited. A very frustrating situation. All they talk about is "getting shots into arms", those phony jerks. *** Meanwhile, a longtime colleague of mine now retired in Miami Florida just succeeded in getting 1st Pfizer shot at a county drive-through site located on grounds of the city zoo! She could stay in her family's car the whole time there, and the medical staff came to inoculate her while standing beside it. A staffer remained for 10-15 minutes post-shot to be sure she tolerated it; she doesn't have any chronic condition but is close to age 80. She posted to me that the good organization there turned out to be a pleasant surprise-- because the pharmacy vaccination sites in Miami area are chaotic like ours. / Old Hat (40 yrs with left-sided UC)

Old Hat, I forget if you have or haven't had a vaccine? In my Facebook i see friends in the US in their 30s and 40s getting vaccines so I just assumed everyone with elevated risk would have had the opportunity to get one.

To be honest I would have preferred pfizer or moderna as they seem to work better against the Brazilian and South African variants, and now there is a link with blot clots and the AZ vaccine, especially in women under 55...But I figured it was better to have a partial protection 2 months earlier than waiting and maybe still only getting Astrazeneca at the end of it. The blood clots seems to be a rare over reaction of the immune system (odds are around 1 in a million), I'll know within 2 weeks if it was a problem...

No, Poopydoop, I've been trying to register for pharmacy injection via dedicated phone link or online since early February-- just got a couple "false leads" thus far. There are 3 pharmacies within walking distance of my home which list Pfizer vaccine appointments, but they fill up within a half hour of posting online. We don't get any local info on their client capacity, either; those locations will either be empty or swarming with up to 20 people attempting to process their consent papers just prior to inoculation. Around here it's not so much an influx of chronically ill-- rather people age 50+ or teachers, child care workers, and "public-facing" workers in both commercial and govt. jobs-- reflecting a recent expansion by city & state of the vaccine eligibility list during the last 4 weeks. A couple days ago I tuned in a local university webinar where top administrators, including one from their medical school, commented that the expansion of eligibility makes no sense while the vaccine supply remains limited. One reason that supply remains limited is reported shortage of different components of the vaccine solutions plus filters needed to process them, etc. I may be social-distancing for another year at this rate! / Old Hat

Old hat, I am so sorry you haven’t been able to get a vaccine yet. I agree that the New York State rollout has been a challenge for sure. I live in WNY and got my second vaccine yesterday morning after having had two other appointments get canceled because of lack of vaccine. Both my parents were able to get their vaccines through a pharmacy (Westchester Co), my mother got an actual appointment and then put my father on a call list if there were any no shows and he got his a week later. If there is a pharmacist you know, try reaching out to them. I got Pfizer through a state run clinic but they got moderna.
So far my side effects 23 hours later are just a wicked headache and a sore arm.

Glad to have your input, Momto2. RE helpful pharmacist: I had a wonderful soul (female from Bengali immigrant family) who managed pharma dept. at a local chain for nearly 10 yrs & always got me through insurance bottlenecks with my UC meds. After this chain was gobbled up by Walgreens, her location got closed on very short notice during a "consolidation". Insurer obliged me to acquire my maintenance med via home delivery by out-of-state Express scripts dispensary. Consequently, I no longer have an ongoing local pharmacy connection = "familiar face". This is our lovely increasingly impersonal U.S. health care system, controlled by corporate insurance moguls. Plus we have more than our share of grandstanding politicians mixing in & messing up with vaccine eligibility changes 'cause municipal elections come up later this yr. @ Old Hat: Express scripts is the bane of my existence! I'm sorry you no longer have a good pharmacy to go to, it does seem like all the independent ones are going and being replaced by Walgreens, etc in the name of (in)efficiency.

Hear hear on the corporate pharmacy mindset; and insurance staff deciding which medications they’ll allow our doctors to give us. Very frustrating!

One positive in CA is the vaccine inoculation sites in our area are extremely organized. Drive thru so no standing in line. They had different station set up so you drive thru for checkin then drive up to get temp taken drive up to shot area and then you drive to another area for monitored after effects. Of course our weather is more favorable for the staff to be working outside.

The signing up online for appts is not so smooth — I was lucky enough to hear word of mouth from people with advance notice so got my appt before they filled up 30 minutes later. And our area was so hard hit early on with covid (top 10 counties nationwide) that we got more vaccine allocated to us than the lesser hit areas.

I had my second dose of Pfizer yesterday. I had flu-like symptoms last night - fever, chills, headache. This morning I had a headache and chills. As of this evening I am almost ok. Just a mild headache and mild chills.

I would suggest you keep the evening and after Dose 2 open. Have some juice, water, and soup nearby,

It's 2 days since I had my Astrazeneca vaccine, and I'm feeling fine except for a compelling urge to go out and buy a windows laptop.

Ok apart from that... I had fever within an hour of the shot which lasted about 15 hours and a 24 hour headache which stopped me from sleeping on the first night. Was surprised as normally i don't have any side effects after vaccines.

Feeling pretty normal today.

I needed a new Windows laptop & finally got one last month. It has 10th gen Intel Core i7 processor so is blazingly fast compared to my 7 yr-old model, an early i7. (Not a techie, but love a solid laptop!) *** Now I can really zip around our forum & thank you all for posting your vaccine issues/experiences to-date. We are really the only people who know how any chemical intervention makes us feel-- so sharing that info definitely helps! / Old Hat

Hahaha! I'm sorry to hear you're having such difficulty getting a vaccine 😠 They really ought to have age-related priority. Over here various groups have been lobbying to get done earlier (teachers, policemen, even Olympic athletes...) and I'm just thinking, "which group of vulnerable people would you like to take a vaccine from"?? Anyway the government has ignored them, and apparently the most at-risk groups are people like cleaners and taxi drivers but of course they don't have the same power to lobby/complain....
I managed to get in early because the government at first said Astrazeneca was only for under 65's as not enough data on older age groups (a policy on which they have now back-tracked), so when my GP had finished doing their 60-64s patients for the day I was next in line for the leftover shots. But it is a bit silly as many people in their 70s are still unvaccinated...

Back in January our state had 2 categories of priority eligibility for COVID vaccinations, 1-A which was mainly for health care providers & emergency service people, and 1-B, which was mainly for seniors age 65+ by February. However, due to political pressure it seems, 1-A is no longer discussed and 1-B has been expanded to include people age 50+ in addition to teachers, child care workers, public-facing staff in govt. & private sector jobs, etc., etc. Meanwhile, the vaccine supplies remain inadequate here to keep up with these expanded eligibilities. Six days ago I tuned in a top local university webinar, where an affiliated major medical center CEO stated that not all 1-A designated people have been vaccinated yet! Therefore, it doesn't make sense to expand eligibility widely until vaccine production/distribution increases to meet demand-- which our political leaders are either afraid or ashamed to admit. They can't bring themselves to say it will take another couple of months to achieve a steady vaccine supply throughout the country. I find that outrageous, and even worse, our respected daily newspaper with international standing just published an article speculating on what will become of a glut of vaccines (assuming we'll have a glut) that pile up this coming fall!!!!! / Old Hat
