It could just be that you are of the group for whom UC reduces with age but nonetheless, I have been meaning to look at supplements for this because Tim Spector (book - The Diet Myth), who has done a lot of research on nutrients is not a promoter of supplements at all has said that Lutein does seem to produce results. I think the action has something to do with blocking blue light so in our screen heavy world this could be even more important. However, looking at some more research it does seem to affect inflammation so it may well be helping.
I've been tracking my nutrient intake on cronometer and it always shows very low for lutein and zeaxanthin even though I'm eating a really varied diet at the moment.
" In vitro studies show that lutein suppresses NF kappa-B activation as well as the expression of iNOS and COX-2. Since AMD has features of a chronic low-grade systemic inflammatory response, attention to the exact role of lutein in this disease has shifted from a local effect in the eye towards a possible systemic anti-inflammatory function"
