Sorry to hear this causing angst for you.
I am having my takedown surgery on May 7th.
What I can tell you is that I was getting a colonoscopy two times per year and then yearly and I just assumed everything would be fine.
Then it wasn’t fine, and I surrendered my colon.
I went through some dark days last fall as I did not know at first that jpouch was an option and I thought I would need a permanent osteomy. I was terrified.
I am very grateful no more UC and no more chance of CRC.
Question, as you have had your pouch for 4 plus years now, how has been your experience? If you have had no issues or minor issues, just think of it like your yearly colonoscopy.
I am really stressed about the butt-burn I am going to endure as the jpouch goes live, and the many BM’s I will experience the first few weeks.
I am assuming all this is behind you and you and your pouch are having a happy life together.
Please stay strong and know that everything will be fine specially if you had no symptoms of anything wrong.
My experience has been good. I'm not taking anymore UC meds, I'm going to the bathroom 4-6 times a day, & I can eat anything even though I try to stay away from Spicy Foods. And I can go out the house more often.
