Hello, my UC is flaring up once again. Dr is putting me on Lialda (oral tablets) to help put me in remission. Have any of you had any success on this medication?

I know everyone is different but how many BM’s a day is normal during a flare? I’ve been seeing blood once or twice a day. Not sure if that’s on the high (extreme) side.

Just clarifying...you haven't been on any meds?

I suggest rectal mesalamine as well as Lialda.
Many are on oral mesalamine...see how you do on it.

Depending on the severity and location of one's flare, frequency can be a bm every few days to 20 plus bms daily.

I was on pentasa a few months ago. It did its job but side effects were pretty bad. Recently recovered from covid and dr suggested Not to take any mesalamine’s for whatever reason.

I am on Lialda. It works good for me.

I've been on Lialda for 6+ years, ever since the Asacol manufacturer stopped producing Asacol and switched to Delzicol so they could avoid it going generic, (and my insurance wouldn't cover Delzicol).

Lialda has been better at preventing flares, in my experience. Plus it's a LOT cheaper. Especially if you buy overseas ($.70/pill)

Oh wow .70 per pill is great. I paid nearly 300 for a month supply.
Is this medication good during a flare as well? Or more of a Maintenance medication?

During a flare and also a maintenance medication. I take it every day

This is off topic but do any of you take creatine monohydrate ?
I exercise as much as possible I just don’t know if it’s bad for us UC sufferers. Not much info out there
