Woohoo sons doing well again and finished the steroids.

Enemas seem to be working really well again. Plus a suppository. He does it all himself.

3g oral as well.

Very pleased and hopefully means we can avoid the azathioprine for him.

Week 3 1 stool per day with no blood or other symptoms.

Enemas are the secret it appears.

How long has he been off steroids? The key will be that he can stay well with the other meds as maintenance. Don't stop taking the oral and rectal meds. Eventually he may be able to ween down from the doses he is on now to lower doses or not daily enemas, but don't rush it, and don't stop completely. Wait several months before doing anything and talk with your doctor fist.

That's great to hear! Enemas have helped me a lot over my 14 years with UC. Really greatful to quincy and others on this forum who always mentioned them when I first got diagnosed.

Wow...impressive that your son is now off the pred. Happy to hear he's doing so well on the meds now.

What are the instructions of the GI at this point....hope it doesn't include tapering to go off the enemas 😉

The gp says he’s to be in the enemas indefinitely for now anyways. Just one each evening and been off the pred 2/3 weeks now.

It’s quite positive as he’s definitely on the verge of moving up the medication ladder, or was before things settled.

Back on the liquid enemas he says he prefers them from the foam although both have the same dose and effect.

Hi...im assuming his enema dosage is only 1g...are they Pentasa?
They do go up to 4g, so options are still there for future treatment.

It's odd your son wasnt given at least 2g or at most 4g. You could ask the pharmacy if they are available should you need them in the future rather than going on pred.

Is he slated for a scope in a year? I suggest yes to make sure he is on track regarding symptoms and inflammation.
