A better generic of Mesalamine Enema.

Hello,
All the past years whenever I needed Mesalamine Enema( Insurance never covered the brand name Rowasa!) my local pharmacy gave me the generic from Perrigo, I didn’t know that there is another generic until I switched pharmacies and they gave me the generic from ani pharma, it’s much easier to use the tip is softer more like rubber than plastic, and the bottle itself also is easier to squeeze so less is wasted.
Just wanted to share!
I’m wondering if there are other better options?

Interesting, thanks for updating us. Perrigo definitely deserves competition for their scratchy plastic! (Those date back ca. 20 yrs now & I remember lots of complaints registered here on the forum RE poor quality application when they 1st got foisted off on us.) I looked up Ani Pharma's Website & see that they also manufacture generic hydrocortisone retention enemas. Unfortunately, our RX insurance usually mandates the pharmas we can use-- so I'm happy for you that your new provider dispenses a better generic. My experience is that they (particularly the large chains) give us the cheapest when more than one generic gets marketed in the U.S. / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)

That's interesting. I use Salofalk mesalazine enemas in the UK, with a concertina like bottle, but I find there's quite a lot of air in the top of the squeezy bottle. I try to squeeze it out first but can be a bit cumbersome.

(but I use Pentasa suppositories over Salofalk ones as I find the Salofalk ones greasy, and I retain the Pentasa ones better, plus I like the finger protectors that are supplied.)

I cannot believe it has been 20 yrs of stiff, uncomfortable plastic! They definitely are uncomfortable, especially when super inflamed. I also wish they did the tip in clear so I can more easily get the air out without overflow (holding to the light usually works, but not always).

I've randomly gotten the better bottles at times as well. But I just use what they give me.
