Covid

I’m fully vaccinated with Moderna , but recently got covid. I’m on Remicade and also have been wearing a mask in stores again, but continued to hang with other fully vaccinated friends. I’m on day 6 of the virus and had a fever for the first 4 days. I’m on the mend and am just watching out for pneumonia signs etc. My symptoms were better than a flare or the flu , but still kicked my butt for the last week. I hope you all are doing ok.

We can still get Covid after vaccination but it's usually very mild. Glad to hear that seems to be your case. I've heard that Delta is highly infectious so even though you wear your mask, if you are around people who aren't masked in stores you could still get infected. Or perhaps one of your vaccinated friends was an asymptomatic carrier without them even knowing it.

Unless we are wearing an N95 (or KN95) mask, the masks most of us wear give us only a little protection from others but protects others from us. I just ordered some KN95 masks from Amazon. I was just using a surgical mask under a double layer cloth mask with a HEPA filter between the layers. With how contagious Delta seems to be I thought I better step up to a better mask protocol.

Oh that’s too bad. Sorry you are dealing with this but I’m glad it’s seems to be on the up swing.

I had Covid this past March. Not a variant. Prior to me getting vaccinated.
It was horrible. Husband and I were not functioning for several days. And even after felt very ill. It was scary. Luckily we all (5 of us in my home) recovered and seem to not have any lasting symptoms.

I got my first vaccine about 6 weeks after this and then 8 weeks later my second.

In between all this I had my regularly scheduled scope and for the first time in a long while had mild inflammation in the rectum (5cm).

Thinking about this I’m wondering if having Covid and then my first shot so close together kicked it off? Of course we will never know for sure. Regardless, I would still get both doses again. I’m out of my flare now I think.

I’m pretty nervous about getting it again. I am a teacher and so work with the unvaccinated…

Sorry that you got hit despite vax; thanks for sharing. At best the existing anti-COVIDs are 95-6% effective, but still better than nothing. When this pandemic 1st broke out in USA in March 2020, I consulted the Website at U. of Pittsburgh Med Center, where the 1st polio vaccine got developed & tested in mid-1950s. Microbiologists posting there commented that COVID-19 has "some properties" of the polio virus!!!!! Reading that made my hair stand up because I then realized that this latest viral bug has to be taken VERY seriously.
