Dull cramping/pain?? First Biologic recommendations?

Hey guys, hope we are all well..
It's been a while but I've just got into a flare recently (2 weeks ago) and was put on 45mg prednisone.
I believe I'm 90% out of a flare.
I'm currently getting lower left hand side cramping/pain which comes and goes
It sometimes radiates to my lower back but most of the time when I'm sitting for long periods.
I've done blood work up and slightly elevated liver enzymes (alcoholic range) 🤔 but everything else looks good. But I've never had this dull cramping feeling.
Any input would be appreciated.

I'm seeing the my gastro next week to hopefully try a biologic methotrexate didn't work for me.
Any opinions on biologics anyone?

Current meds:
Pentasa 4gs daily
Predsol enemas
Methotrexate
Fish oil, turmeric, folic acid

when you say left sided cramping does this feel like a muscular spasm or a cramp inside you tummy?....is the pain just under ur rib cage?

I am very happy on entyvio. It doesn’t affect the immune system as strongly as remicade, for instance, as it’s supposed to be gut specific. Infusion time is much shorter —30 min as opposed to 3 hrs for remicade (from what I hear). I’m not more sick than normal and had a strong antibody response to covid vaccine. I was in symptomatic remission by around month 4 but greatly improved before then.

What does alcoholic level mean...are you one?
What enzymes exactly?

I'm assuming that as you're improving, stool consistency and symptoms are changing...that much depends on where the inflammation.
What are your symptoms now compared to before on pred?

Entyvio is the least systemic, but it can take a while to work. Remicade is the oldest and probably most widely used.

I loved Entyvio. Unfortunately, it only worked for a little over a year for me. Works a lot longer for most people.

Humira was easy (self injections), but never really worked for me

Remicade made a huge difference fairly quickly, but it took me a long time with dosage/frequency changes to reach remission. Most people probably would have given up on it, but I was so sick when I started that even though I wasn't 100% UC didn't interfere with my life. I am glad I hung in there with it.

Hey Charlie, Thanx for your reply ..The cramping is inside the tummy and tender to touch which radiates to my lower back..
It comes and goes I'm using buscapan for relief ATM.

Thanx I want to try that first instead of Remi as it takes 3 hours loo

Quincy long time my friend.
Doc said liver enzyme one of them is high. She asked if I drink which I never do. The enzyme that gets affected by alcohol I suppose...😊.. doesn't UC meds usually affect our liver enzymes I thought to myself..
She would like me to do an abdominal ultrasound.

Symptoms wise good no bleeding urgency and 1 movement daily 2 if unlucky lol..
I got a feeling maybe pancreatitis maybe.

Heya...i suggest you request a copy of alllll your bloodwork results. Then you can do research to understand the what, why and what tests next regarding a diagnosis.

Hi Heya. I’m from Australia as well. Had high liver enzymes, left sided pain under rib. It was pancreatitis from mesalazine. Long term user. Currently looking at alternatives to mesalazine. Trying antibiotic therapy with high dose Vit d before I consider the big meds

Just have to add that no one wants to take biologics. I resisted and went into it with huge reluctance. But if they work for you, it’s a lifesaver. It’s given me my life back and I experience no side effects. Definitely worth it for me.
