This wasn't just random TV playing, it was a loop of nothing but IBD-related pharmaceutical ads.

What’s the difference than all the pharma brochures and diagrams in these medical clinics?

I just mind my own business and read my phone while I am waiting.

In their defense maybe they’re just trying to show all the options available?

Gotcha, UCinGV! I don't think it's cool if patients get bombarded with video ads in exam rooms. Whoa!!!! It's no fun having to wait around in there anyway, but the A/C level is usually my 1st cause for concern. At my ophthalmologist's office they have a slide show in their reception area, which displays facts about vision and various conditions affecting it, then part of it shows different types of replacement lenses used in cataract surgery. Those lens slides conclude with advice to: "Ask your ophthalmologist if this lens could be right for you!" So it's kind of a huckster approach to the subtopic, and therefore annoying. My old GI had ads like that playing. Didn't bother me.

I will have to do some digging around, there is a group that you can type in your drs name & it will show if they have received funds from pharmaceuticals or medical device companies, this includes if a rep drops off lunch at a drs office. I seriously doubt your dr is being paid by the company to advertise, it would be public record. if it bothers you so much, speak to the office manager.

We do not have much access to brand name meds because of insurance. Even when brand name is recommended appealing it doesn't always work out, so I wouldn't worry about that. We've seen that happen in this forum a drs office appealing something twice & still get told no.

Look at the advertising on tv for drugs, same with the radio, some days it seems like every other commercial is a drug commercial, lol.

I guess it depends where you're from. Where I live it's illegal to advertise prescription medication. Therefore I find it pretty unethical that some doctors do this.

Last I checked it was illegal in every country except the United States and New Zealand.
