Again, the question is about before you had ulcerative colitis. Not your current situation.

As long as I can remember, my stomach has been slow. At best, I went to the bathroom every second day, but usually it was every 3 - 5 days. I know that most people doesn't share this experience.

Not really constipated though, just slow, but I just don't know the English expression for this. I've been constipated for real maybe 5 -10 times in my life so that's not an issue for me..

With UC...constipation, narrower stools is a symptom of inflammation.
Remember that the most obvious symptoms happen much longer after inflammation initiation and progression.

Yes, I was. But I also didn't eat a perfect diet. One summer I ate extremely healthy and my constipation problem went away, so I'm thinking mine may have been diet-related even though I was vegetarian and ate fairly healthy.

I just know that if I eat the same food as people around me things get slooow down there, and I seem to be the only with that problem, even when I was a child.

Have always fought constipation. When I was very young I remember always being dosed with milk of magnesia.

Going through a weird thing right now (not for the first time) where it doesn’t feel like me bowels want to move at all but yet I wouldn’t say I’m constipated. Probably have some mild inflammation/low grade diverticulitis simmering I think.

I am very constipated now but I was incontinent before I treated my last flare with enemas UC under control but still constipated. Take Miralax and metamucil

I’ve eaten a vegan diet for about 20 years and have nearly always had at least two BMs per day since the dietary change. Never been constipated.

Oh I was waaaaaay slow. Every 3 to 5 days here too. Even as a child It was slow. It wasn't until I asked my Mom about it and started drinking/eating correctly that it resolved. I have always had a hard time drinking as much water as I am supposed to.

Now I have a colostomy. They have removed 7 to 9 inches from the sigmoid area and my output is still really thick. But now I am smart enough to recognize the issue and try to get out in front of it. Lol...

I'm curious about the OP question.

Just stating that constipation isn't a cause of UC. However, one could have motility issues, IBS, plus UC.

We actually don't know when UC is triggered, what degree of inflammation is happening or the location extent. One could be suffering with mild and extremely limited inflammation for years and years, and it may resolve or continue upward, albeit mild, without symptoms that would cause any awareness of anything except bowel movement interruptions that basically everyone has.

I definitely had constipation and wonky bm cycles. Periods made them more frustrating and painful.
