2 questions Vax and Mouth bleeding??

Hey guys hope everyone's doing great...
1.My specialist has suggested 3 shots of the vaccine plus booster as its standard practice now in Australia for Immune compromised
I'm on methotrexate infliximab..
Has anyone been advised to have 4 dosses?

2. Does anyone have or had a metallic taste in their mouth with mild bleeding especially in the mornings? And throughout the day? My blood work is fine.
My Doctor thinks I may have sleep apnea?🤔🤔.. but first suggested to see a dental hygienist for bleeding gums?
Anyone had any of the above situations happen to them?

I am in the US. My GI, Infectious disease, Colorectal Surgeon, Nephrologist, and Primary Care doctor's have all recommended 4 shots. 3 full shots and a booster which is usually a half dose. I was concerned about getting the vaccine so I checked with all my doctor's. I received 2 Pfizer's and then the Moderna. I have UC and Crohn's, am on Remicade and Methotrexate. For me---I did not have any reactions to any of the vaccines. No headache, sore arm, fever...nothing. My doctor had antibodies tested and they have come back at 0 after each shot. I am now listed as a non responder. My Infectious Disease doctor said that for some people the Remicade and methotrexate combo causes low to no response to the vaccine.

Bleeding gums and metallic taste. Yes. I went to the dentist. It helped some.

Yes, definitely check with dentist RE bleeding gums. Depending on their condition now you may need more frequent hygiene treatments than in the past. It's not uncommon for IBDers to develop dental problems, too-- especially after taking Prednisone. / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)

3 doses plus a booster dose is standard advice for people taking MTX and/or infliximab in many countries, including the US and UK.

I've had 4 shots even though it wasn't the official guidance in my country. But I'm really anxious about covid so this has helped me cope better.

I had my 4th shot a few weeks ago. There may be an omicron vaccine next month or so - you may want to wait for that vaccine for one of your boosters.

With these medications you also have to be aware that you can develop yeast infections more easily.

In my IBD support group in person, people with bleeding gums all had low immunity. It's because the immune system is needed to keep the mouth bacteria in check. When immunity gets low, gingivitis happens. That might also be why you have the metal taste in your mouth, but I can't say for sure. You should brush and floss every night, and then rinse your mouth with 3% hydrogen peroxide for 10 seconds and spit. That'll disinfect your mouth.
