Ferrous Sulphate happens to be very poorly tolerated and absorbed and causes a lot of gut irritation to many. Do check with your GI if there is a gentler iron he can recommend or ask for an iron infusion if you are too low already. That brings up the numbers much more quickly. Upper endoscopy looks at the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. A CT looks at the gall bladder, spleen , kidneys, liver, pancreas, lungs, small bowel and also the large intestine and can tell if Bilary ducts are dilated. Your high figure could definitely be the covid and subsequent havoc in the gut. My GI says calcprotectin is indicative of gut inflammation only either small or large intestine. For viewing bile ducts specifically and with greater clarity you will probably need some sort of scan but a liver function blood test will typically indicate if more testing is warranted.
