Swollen Lymph Nodes?

I have swollen lymph nodes above my collar bones, behind my ears and under my jaw.

Is this a UC thing?

My doctor suggests that I must have had Covid. I did have an exceptionally bad flare before my last Entyvio infusion, then really bad side effects after. I always have the chills, sweats, ache. But this time it was extremely bad and lasted nearly 2 weeks before I could really get outta bed and do anything. I tested for Covid three times, all negative. GP says most Covid cases she sees now test negative. GI says I might be developing antibodies to Entyvio.

So… is this a Covid thing? Or a new UC thing?

Any treatment suggestions? GP says just decongestant, but I’m not congested. We want to avoid antibiotics if at all possible.

I was checked and tested negative for Covid.

Are they going to test your Entyvio antibodies?

Why would most covid cases your GP sees now test negative? I'm not understanding that.

Sorry, I have no advice to offer on this, other than I'd be getting my antibodies tested if my GI said it could be that.

When I said ask your pcp to run labs for infection, I was talking about CBC, this will detect if you have an infection somewhere such as the lymph nodes, sinus infection & that sort of thing, I'm not talking about the virus.

It's also possible she picked up covid while at the hospital....?

It seems to be slowly resolving itself.

At least around here we have a lot of Covid right now. I am hearing that one or two members in a family will test positive, everybody else is negative and they all have the exact same symptoms. Maybe a Covid test doesn’t take pick up the new variant as well?

It is not the doctors avoiding tests. It’s me. I have enough tests.

Daughters whole family tested positive like dominoes. about 3 days apart. They all had same symptoms... stuffy nose, scratchy throat and fatigue. My daughter has allergies so she contributed her symptoms to allergies... Stuffy nose and scratchy throat...But no fever.... No body aches.... And then her heartbeat went up on to 180 bpm and would not go back down. ER did test but they said it was negative. Her legs started hurting.....negative test. They were scared it was the heart issues. Cardiologist and infectious disease doctor came in and said she had COVID and the heart episode was absolutely caused by COVID. They are seeing many patients that test negative for COVID but are having other issues...like heart racing. They think perhaps the test does not detect this strain. Once they sent her home she was home for over a week and now she has lost smell and taste. Her body aches really kicked in once she got home from the hospital. Heart issues still ongoing. She did go see another cardiologist and he believes the same thing. They do not believe that she caught it at hospital. They think she had it for a few days before she went in. The people that present like this, and have more negative tests... They are seeing a pattern of a very slow build up to show antibodies in the system that can be detected....but they have COVID and their body is fighting it. The COVID is lasting longer and they are having symptoms of long haul Covid in this subset of patient. (According to her PCP, infectious disease doctor and 2 cardiologist.) So I dunno.... She said her lymph nodes did not swell up though.

On the air by the ocean... Gulf... Body of water .. my spouse thinks the same thing. Being by the water cures all. I was scared he was gonna pitch a tent when I was first diagnosed with IBD. Glad you could smell it! I love that smell.

It's always been the case that sometimes it can take a few days to test positive and that tests are not 100% accurate.
It does not follow from that that most cases of covid today test negative (and I'm not sure how one could verify that statement anyway).

The first thing I think of is... "Are the tests expired?" And the second thing I think of is what strain is it, or had it mutated so that the test might not work as well?

I don't know why your health care provider would say most though. I did ask my 2 nephews who are doctors and 3 of my nurse nieces who are working in the hospital what they are seeing. They all stated that it varies from week to week. They will sometimes have a large group of individuals during a week that their tests show negative. But that test is good for just that moment in time and your body may have been able to fight off COVID enough that it just keeps showing up negative. Funnily enough... The nieces said that if that happens you should ask them to verify the expiration date on the test also. They're only human and they can miss that occasionally.

Hopefully you are feeling better by now and are not flaring.

On the booster.... When my daughter was still testing negative.... The doctors told her to speak to her PCP regarding when/if she should get boosted with having had a unverified but suspected case of COVID. Once she tested positive they gave her a timeframe to wair--but they also told her to check with her other doctors.
