I know some members have said they live in Florida at least part time. I was wondering how you made out with Ian? Looks like a huge gigantic mess in a good chunk of Florida. Hope you are are safe!

My Mom is in Venice. We got her a flight out for Wednesday. I'll be going there the end of this month. It was a devastating storm.

Glad your mom is able to get out. Looks like a real mess there. Was the area you will be going to hard hit? Based on the pics I have seen it's going to take a very long time for some areas to recover.

I'll be going to the Venice and Sarasota area. From what I'm seeing, there's a ton of debree and the Venice Theatre is no longer there. Where my mom lives, there is no flooding, just a lot of trees down and debree all over.

Heartbreaking to see what the hurricanes have destroyed in the US and in Canada. Overwhelming amound of loss!

Quincy; Thanks! I was getting such anxiety for a couple of days that I couldn't get a hold of her. When the hurricane hit, she went next door to her neighbors because they had hurricane shutters. Once the hurricane hit, I lost all contact with her for a couple of days. She's 90 years old and even though she still drives, goes out with her friends and is very active, I was very worried.

Those floods were terrible to watch and read about. And of course the equally the floods in pakistan where up to 1,700 people are currently presumed dead and with 8million displaced with that number to rise.

Suffering comes in many forms and through the global news we now read and hear about this a lot more than we once did.

The flooding in Pakistan is truly horrendous. It's so hard to grasp the scope of the size of the area, and the number of people, affected. Mind boggling.

These storms are hitting everywhere now ... guess that's why we are hearing about them so much. Sadly, there will be more to come.

That had to have been very stressful ... the not knowing if she was ok. Cool that she's still out and about on her own!

Yea, she is still very active. And I agree, the world is a mess!
