Delzicol Dose… 2.4 or 4.8 g

Anyone take more than 2.4g of Delzicol? Like 4.8g?

Seems like it’s common for people to take 4.8g of Lialda (Mesalamine) but when I look up dose of Delzicol it seems to say that 2.4g is max dosage.

Is this true? If so why? They are the same drug, just different style delivery…

I've been on 4.8 mg of Delzicol for 15 1/2 years (formerly called Asacol). What you saw online is not correct.

Welcome. And I meant 4.8 grams, sorry. I think the lower dose is all they tested for maintenance in the trials so the pill bottles say that's the recommended maintenance dose.

What dosage do you take?

No rectal meds. I was originally suffering from pancolitis.

I have a Rx for 4.8 g from my general practitioner who I see most often. I was just curious what delzicol generally gets prescribed for dose wise since my GP isn’t a GI doctor.

GI doctors have prescribed me 4.8 g of Lialda. I was just curious if the same dosage applies to delzicol. When you look online at write ups on Delzicol, dosage is usually 2.4g

Yep, it's the same. I was prescribed the same dosage of Lialda when I tried to switch to that from Delzicol (pills were too big for me).
