Rinvoq Results

After 6 months on Rinvoq 30 mg. I had a colonoscopy with the following results from my doctor:

Below are the results of the biopsies from your recent colonoscopy.

Diagnosis
A. Sigmoid colon/rectum, biopsy:
-Inactive chronic colitis/proctitis.
-No granulomas or dysplasia seen.

Your colon biopsies showed inactive inflammation. No precancerous changes were seen. Rinvoq seems to be working well!

When I switched to Inflectra. Cigna approved the 5 mg every 8 week dosage quickly. When my GI wanted to up the dose …it was a nightmare.

I’m now with blue cross. I’m wondering how easy it would be for me to switch to rinvoq insurance wise, if my GI wanted to go in this direction.

RUSTY....I'll let ya know about Blue Cross as soon as I can find out anything. My doctor was required to get prior approval from B.C. So far, still waiting and was given a sample prescription to get me started.

You can still have your dr put in an appeal, can’t you? Another option is to go to the manufacturer and ask if they have either a copay or a free program assistance. A lot of the drug companies have a free option if you qualify. I’m getting my migraine injection medication for free as I don’t qualify for their copay program.

Geezer…are you on Medicare? If so, as of right now, you do not qualify for the copay assistance because of Medicare rules of non negotiation (hopefully that will change with the new rules). Because of that, many drug companies have 2 assistance options — one is a copay, the other is free. There is an application process to qualify (income based, but no governing body that requires irs documentation) but then they will ship you their drug for free. I’ve used this method with several different companies. You have to call their assistance program and ask if they have the “free” option. Doesn’t hurt to ask, and it’s well worth it in the long run.
