I got a a virus i have serious diarhea what can i do?

My child and me received a virus my child has healthy bovel but i have uc.
My stool is totaly liquid...i did feel the some years ago when i got also a virus...
( mychild symtomps was the same different is i have more bm, about daily 10-15)
Normaly the virus attack my bovel and made me flare or is this only diarrhea and i am not flaring? What is the exact pricess?

I tried to lift my pred a little...
But what should i do?

I have minimal pain i have no blood... what would be your advice?

I would reach out to your GI doctor. He will likely want to run stool tests to check for inflammation levels, c diff., and possibly other infectious causes. Prednisone would not help a virus. I'm assuming you are currently flaring if you're on prednisone? Hope you feel better soon.

Obviously get both you and your child checked re stool samples. You might need medication, but I would take fibre supplements to help sweep it out plus probiotics.

Make sure you dont share any towels...clean toilet after bms, proper handwashing is a must...including under nails etc.

I tried to call my GI and other GI but they have an "official event" therefore today they are not working.

So it seems this is the only way where i can get any idea regarding the treatment.
I have watery stool 10 -16 per day...
The symtomps totaly other than uc...thanks for the God the pain is very minimal there is no blood.
It started 3- 4 days ago, but such high freqvency bm is started 2 days ago.

I have other doctor ( area doctor) contact but she is not specialized for uc but if you inow there is any effective medicine she can prescribe it.
Or if you were in similar situation how can you solve it?

I take 4mg pred before infection now i lifted up to 16. Before infection i was well, i had a little flare because i drunk alcohol but my stool was ok...

Has your son completely recovered?

Whenever I was flaring my doc would test my stool for pathogens before going to pred. Since you have been on pred before this your system could be suppressed and that could make it harder for you to clear any virus. You really need to get your stool tested so you can rule out if this is caused by a flare or pathogen. If not a pathogen, then you will need to decide how to treat the flare.

I forget -- are you currently on meds for UC?

Stool test... if you have a bacterial infection then antibiotics may be required/helpful...

A good probiotic may also help

Thank you... my son has recovered.. bit he has healthy bovel.
My symtomps is mimic to uc... i have already pain and blood... sad but i think the root cause was the a virus or bacteria infection

What UC meds are you on?
I would go to or call a walk-in and ask for a stool sample kit asap.

Why are you on the 4mg pred...because of a flare?

Saccharomyces boulardii is one of the better probiotics for infectious diarrhea and there is also some evidence for therapeutic use in UC.

Yeah, why such a low dose of prednisone? 16 is still too low to treat a flare. Are you feeling better yet?
