Hello all! When you were headed for remission, what was the order your typical UC symptoms disappeared?

I know everyone is different, but I was just hoping to gather info. My stools are very formed. Slight Bleeding, urgency, and mucus persists, however.

I know rectal meds would kick this back, but again. Just looking for the experiences of others. I can pass gas no problem and I can retain enemas without too much discomfort overnight

I am confused about your last sentence -- can you retain the enemas or not? I stayed on enemas until I was symptom free. The last symptom to disappear for me is blood. Before someone says that I still likely had inflammation -- I agree that's possible. Just that for me blood is the last symptom to go away .. formed stools, no urgency, 1-2x/day, but I would see blood occasionally. Once I go 2 weeks without seeing a trace of blood I start breathing easy.

Sounds like you are getting there. If you can use enemas it will speed up the the journey to the Land of Remission! It's lovely here ... come join us smile

Ah yes, I just edited my post. Sorry for confusion.

I just get frustrated because while I feel better, I just want linear progress. Not this up and down roller coaster on the way to remission.

You're in a flare and not near remission. What dosage enemas and how long have you been on them?
You have a ways to go...just be patient and use the enemas nightly. You should also eventually taper the enemas to a maintenance dosage.

Blood doesn't happen unless there is UC inflammation...aka friable. It doesn't happen on its own unless there is a hemorrhoid or fissure or possible solitary ulcer.

I can't really remember but I think my blood and mucous is one of the first things to go. I've flared many times without any blood at all.

Sara, yes..makes sense. I don't flare with bleeding anymore, because inflammation doesn't have a chance to increase to that state.

you may be closer than you or others think - everyone seems to heal at a different rate, and with different paths - my usual gauge is how i'm feeling and how many normal, daily tasks i'm able to complete - although i've never really been a big fan of the big R word - maybe i am, maybe i'm not - oh well, i mowed the lawn and took care of my kid all day, so i'm doing well sort of thing - my only advice is to not get in a big hurry - stay doing what you've been doing and don't rush to put that way of life behind you, even tho it's tempting - steady as she goes - UC is most likely your partner for life - treat it accordingly - be kind to your butt -
