How long have you had UC

33 years diagnosed. Symptoms years before diagnosis....I had an idiot doctor.

I became ill in December 2003 and was diagnosed in April 2004. Prior to this I had rumbling symptoms when younger, that I thought were due to irritable bowel syndrome.

I've defied the odds and still have my bowel. Statistically I was likely to have had my bowel removed by now, having had Cyclosporine as a rescue med.

Stelara is keeping me in remission, and fingers crossed if it fails there'll be a new med to try.

Since age 17 (58 years). Currently on Entyvio and seeing improvement.

Wow some of you have had it for a long time. Im lucky having it later in life, 44. Thanks for the replies.

Dx’ed in 2014 - probably had active mild disease years prior but fobbed it off as hemorrhoids acting up. Luckily, when symptoms troubled me enough that I mentioned them to a GP, he sent me straight to the GI for examination. Been on rectal mesalamine ever since - added tablets a year later thanks to suggestion from this forum, which keep things under control mostly.
