Recommend avoiding salad "kits"! Also raw cabbage or carrots. Try the organic "baby" vegetables such as spinach, red or green romaine, or kale, in very small amounts to start, then see how you fare. Otherwise, steam fresh or frozen veggies to augment your lean protein foods. It's really trial-and-error in the beginning when assembling a diet that suits your gut. I can tolerate small amounts of chopped raw celery mixed with chicken or tuna & mayo, but raw carrot disagrees with me bigtime-- and I had expected the reverse to happen! My current favorite is cooked red beet in chunks, which have several vital nutrients, and my colon loves them. Broccoli and cauliflower florets or asparagus tips usually are tolerable when steamed or baked, but save their stalks for soup-making because those parts are hard to digest unless very well-cooked. / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal) P.S. Beware of multi-grain bread or rolls containing seeds or wheat berries, which can irritate the gut.
