Hi there,

I've posted in the past about being in remission from UC for 10 years now. I'm on Entyio and Imuran with clear scopes and very low cal pro. However for last 2 years I've had a range of joint, eye and scalp issues. No scans here have concluisvely diagnosed a new condition. I'm currently moving from Imuran to Methorxexate but have doubts about whether this will solve the extraintestinal issues.

My GI and Rheumy are now suggesting dual biologics if Metherexate does not kick in. I'm wondering about people's experiiences with dual biologics. For those who have tried such did you also keep a modulator like imuran or MTX? And was the dual therapy primarily due to bowel issues or to service extra intestinal issues too?

Charlie, I believe it's Hugo18 that is on Rinvog & Stelara, I can't remember if he had any of the other issues you are speaking about. I think he is on these two drugs only. Rinvog is a JAK inhibitor, Stelara is a biologic.

You can use the search box at the top right, type in Hugo18 & you should be able to pull up his posts. He doesn't check in much anymore, wish he would.

Yes I've read those but I guess I'm wondering more for people who may be using dual therapy for dual pathologies. Thanks

I believe Hugo18 is the only one on dual therapy.

Dual biologics for treating an IBD is still a bit expiremental, and you are likely to get health insurance kickback due to cost and that it's not standard treatment. For some it's worked brilliantly.

One biologic for each health condition would be easier to get approved.

I wouldn't expect to continue mtx on it.

I’ve started with similar joint, eye, and occasional scalp issues in the past year and a half. They’re still considered mild enough that rheumatologist says we can hold off on changing my biologic as long as Entyvio works, but the plan if I need more intervention is not to add a biologic but to shift meds to one that would hopefully catch both conditions. This seems risky to me (hence my desire to stick with Entyvio for now, given the relative risks of the joint and eye and skin stuff vs the colon), but I suspect it has to do with meds and funding them as well as research and precedent.

i started it now ( combined therapy) xeljanz and stelara
i am from europe, here this is free

i hope it will work without side effectd

Are you getting dual therapy for IBD only Hambo or for IBD with extra-intestinal symptoms?

Like you I'm in europe too and no issue with dual therapy on my insurance. In fact if I enter a study on dual therapy and agree to be tracked for 3 years i get 10% of my premium per annum paid by the research body involved.

i receive it because of the ibd, there is no other issue, it is more than enough smile
