Ks-- you have to use an app to tell it to fully charge? Why wouldn't it do that all the time?
Question -- can the EV go for days/weeks without being driven at all? With my Prius I was told it had to run at least once every 2 weeks so if I go on a longer vacation I either need to get someone to start it or there is something I am supposed to disconnect. I've never left him for that long so that hasn't come up.
If you charge to 100% ALL the time then it could degrade some of the battery, just like if you use the fast DC chargers (the ones that fully charge your car in minutes instead of hours).
My mother had the plug-in hybrid Prius too. They’d tell her to drive more than 30 miles every few MONTHS so the gas engine took over and the gas didn’t go bad (it’s like when you put a gas lawnmower away for the winter and the gas goes bad). She has a full EV now and loves it.
I wouldn’t over think it. I find my EV much more practical than my gas cars — they have more space (Trunk and a Frunk (no large engine or transmission under the hood), maintenance is much less, my car is always full, my car can drive every day 250+ miles without filling up, and it costs less to fuel up. It’s quiet, instant response, and fast.
