I’m in central/Western Canada, and the smoke here is horrible again. To those wondering about health effects, I find it makes me achy and kind of generally anxious—perhaps from climate doom, but I think there’s also increasing research that the toxins can increase boldly inflammation, including neuroinflammation, which affects mental health.
If you go outside, n95-type masks are very helpful and a good idea. A good air purifier inside is also hugely helpful. But man, I hope this isn’t the new normal. It’s cold here so much of the year, I feel like enormous grief at being stuck indoors in the summer too.
Take care, everyone!
