Colonoscopy prep

I alway have a fear that i wont be totally clean for the procedure. My appointment is at 9:30 am with arrival at 7:30 am
The place is an hour away. I have the Sutab in the house. Or she said i can do the Miralax ducalax prep.
Not sure which one is better. Should i ask for another one?
Appointment is for this Monday coming up

Sounds interesting! Never took Milk of Magnesia. The 15 and the 30 are they measurements of the product?
Might give it a try. You still did the prep too?

My scope is Friday and he prescribed the miralax and duculax prep but I always choose mag citrate. It is just so much easier for me to get down without really bad nausea. I like the taste of it. I also have a long drive to the hospital mainly due to traffic and construction. It is Friday at 11:15 am but we have to leave at 8:30 am to get there for registration. I always prefer to be done pooping the night before so my prep will start Wednesday evening. I just have too much anxiety about pooping in the car and having no options of a bathroom. I will drink mag citrate after dinner Wednesday and it will most likely kick in Thursday morning and then I will drink more when I wake up. I will drink more at noon if I feel like I need it but I doubt I will. I already follow a low fiber diet and for the days prior I eat less than 5 grams a day. Since it is Tuesday now, I will just eat meat and eggs and yogurt today and tomorrow. We went out to dinner last night and I ordered fish with carrots but they were super crunchy and I almost spit them out but they only had cloth napkins. So I only had one bite of basically raw carrots haha

I hope it goes well for you!! I have never not been cleaned out just using mag citrate. I just drink it with Body Armors all day long. They are my favorite electrolyte drink.

Yeah it is OTC. So I usually use the powdered mag citrate called Natural Calm but have used the bottles as well. I had to get the lemon flavor since thats what it sold near me but know they have grape and cherry, too. It doesn’t taste good but is tolerable. Its just so much less liquid to drink than the huge jug preps. I think it took me 2.5 bottles in the past for it to clean me out. I use the powder now though and use about 8 Tbsp of powder. Just depends how strict I have been with no fiber. I love the cherry and orange natural calm powders and think they taste really good. After doing the NulyTely enormous jugs of horrid prep a few times, this is 100000x easier for me. I think since this is an ongoing thing we have to do it helps to find something you can tolerate. I honestly dont mind preps at all now that I use the powder. I just hate the clear liquid diet. Makes me think of being in the hospital again so I do get some ptsd just eating jello and chicken broth.

I’ve used Suprep the last few times including last week and the pills are much easier. They offered that or miralax, which I thought was an odd choice since it doesn’t do much for me. Two doses of Suprep def cleared me out but I’ve also used magnesium citrate in the past; the clear bottles that are like $2 at the pharmacy - mix with a bit of water and gulp in small amounts. I generally only drink water during a prep, it seems any calories or sugar spike my hunger whereas water kind of makes me lose my appetite during it. Also, I wore an *ahem* undercover garment during the ride and it helped with anxiety about having an accident, I don’t know why I haven’t been doing that for years. Good luck with the colonoscopy!

Monday is the day. Really not looking forward to prepping. There is a new prep that was FDA approved. It won’t be available till august. Guess I’ll do the sutab. Been trying to clean out a bit before. They won’t budge on an earier time frame. Buying a fleet enigma just in case. I could change and do the miralax one instead.

Oh yes you just did yours. Hope everything was good. So you only used the powder? No other prep. Really don’t know why I’m getting myself crazy this time around. I have one every year. Maybe because they are insisting i do it later in the day and night this time. I take some meds that knock me out. I take them around 10 30. That’s the second round of that crap. They are benzos. If I dont take them I’ll be in more of a panic. I should just do it and stop making myself crazy

Hope you feel better. Sometimes i feel ok after one and sometimes not so much. I get one of those blue dye ones. Last one i felt the same as you. Lasted for a few says.

Faith, I had this problem too and did not take my sleep meds the night before the scope because I knew I would be getting anesthesia in the morning. I regretted it the next morning but was worried they wouldn’t mix with the drugs. I had a really crapty night of sleep and nerves. Honestly, looking back, it is for the best than I didn't take them because the drug cocktail knocked me on my ass and I was a mess all day after the scope!
I finished my prep around 4 pm that evening and am glad I did because I still pooped 3 times before we left the house and it was also a long drive. If I had continued even later, I don't think I would have been able to get in a car by 8:30 am. I didn’t have my scope til around 11:30 and then got home around 2.
If you have to take your meds, I would time them so you aren't just pooping them out. I waited to take my rinvoq til 10 pm the night before because I didn’t want to waste it.

Faith, I don't remember when I started the prep -- only that it was 1-2 hours before they said to. I started early so I could do the 2nd half without getting up in the middle of the night to do it. I think I had to be there about an hour before the procedure. I am supposed to have a scope at the end of the year, but I may procrastinate on that for a few months lol

I didn't wait the whole time between mine. I wanted it done early.

I can't imagine doing the prep like you guys do. It's one of the few times I'm glad I have a colostomy bag otherwise I'd have "accidents" on the way down. The last one I had.. I finished my prep. I hadn't gone in about 2 hours. We were driving down and the bag filled up so full it was ready to pop off me. It felt like old times. We were desperately looking for a bathroom.
