Rinvoq has stopped working

Thank you for this info, This is crazy, I had this question when I started Rinvoq a year ago and I swear there were lots of articles explaining how it was a biologic, a new one etc.

So all the new info I Googled about Rinvoq warns against taking with another immune suppressor drug. The most serious issues were people taking it with another suppression drug, especially prednisone. So one of the benefits of Rinvoq is that you can stop/start anytime. It seems it would be good for any of us on this drug to stop when taking others.

Yes, it does not come with the risk of developing antibodies, which makes stopping and re-starting more straightforward.

The internet is full of misinformation....apparently some healthcare providers don't understand the difference either 🤦🏻‍♀️

Biologics are derived from living organisms. Rinvoq is not that.

So, you can develop antibodies to biologics like Remicade but because Rinvoq is not a biologic you will not develop antibodies? Also does everyone eventually develop antibodies to biologics or just a small group? This is fascinating..

Some of the first patients on remicade are still in remission after 20+ years, so, it is unknown if everyone will develop antibodies but many (most?) do sooner or later.

Also, another way to tell if a drug is a biologic is from the name... biologics all have "-mab" at the end (remicade =infliximab, humira=adalimumab, stelara= ustekinumb, entyvio=vedolizumab,etc etc). The mab stands for "monoclonal antibody".
JAK-inhibitors have "-nib" at the end of the name (rinvoq = upadacitinib, xeljanz=tofacitinib, etc).
