I don't understand. I thought if someone found an effective alternative that worked for themselves, such as a gluten-free diet, that they could share it here. Maybe that is why there are so few members here who feel welcome sharing their alternative experiences. I miss imagardener2.

I agree with you to a point. The problem is that when someone posts what works for them, sometimes that turns into fighting.

I am all for posting alternatives that work, as long as it stays respectful.

Yes they are the rules for reddit and I like them. Very clear, less drama, less misinformation, no possibility for conspiracy theories.

The problem with something working for 1 person is that correlation is not causality (i.e. I did A and then B happened does not mean that A caused B), which is why evidence that something works for more than one person is valuable. It can also harm people if they stop taking meds that are saving their life, for an unproven alternative.

There are entire Facebook groups dedicated to discussing natural remedies/alternatives. So everyone has a space somewhere. They even have rules about not discussing medicines. That did make me giggle.

Yes that's a reddit rule. HW rules are different there, and haven't changed since forever.

I'd agree Peter started a great thing here when there wasn't anything like it.

Traffic has slowed dramatically over the last few years. Peter didn't really have the time to upgrade the forums to newer technology or fully dedicate to a serious Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to improve placement on Google.

From what Peter said to me and others, the forum ads basically paid for keeping hw operational, hosting the website, storing it's large database, keeping the website address domain. Sometimes in the black, sometimes in the red, so it didn't exactly produce tons of cash to invest into outsourcing SEO, upgrades, etc. I had offered to assist with coding, SEO and such, but he was pretty protective of HW and didn't hand the keys to the gates out lol (I've worked in software for over 20 years now, including SEO and website management). Notsosicklygirl and I had done some mockups, shared the code and nudged him along to the website changes a few years back to at least make HW somewhat mobile device capable.

This new owner EHS, sounds excited to invest in HW, upgrade things, I would assume SEO as well.

That was really nice that you guys have offered to pitch in like that. What a wonderful skill set to have.

On Reddit....I'm confused... Don't discuss meds like Remicade or do they mean something that is an alternative medicine... Like LDN....?

And what "studies" at what sites do they choose to accept? How do you know as the poster... Is there like a list? Sorry I just haven't ever thought of it from that perspective.

And then there's things that doctors have their patients try... That may or may not have studies... That help that person.....I'd like to know. That's then on me to research it and decide if I want to try it. I'm thinking the spearmint tea for my high testosterone levels--which worked really well for me. There are studies pro and con... Hmmm...

Wherever you are...Reddit or here...If someone gets nasty they should be held accountable...but I also think that with the written word it's difficult...we don't know someone's tone. Moderators have a difficult job.

With those rules I wonder how people talk about what they are trying at home. Remember here and FMT? There are studies that show that it's a viable option but should you really do that at home? And then I ask myself... But did it help anyone that tried it? Did it harm anyone?

I hope we don't have a lot of changes...but enough to keep us up and going.

It will be interesting to watch that's for sure.
