Do you stop/ continue Rinvoq while having COVID?

My whole family including myself contracted Coronavirus. I’m still taking the 45 mg loading dose and still have more than a month to go. Should you stop/ continue taking Rinvoq while having COVID?

Minnie, contact your dr/IBD nurse ASAP for guidance. Maybe drop the Rinvog until you get an answer from the drs office.

I hope everyone clears the virus soon.

Contact your GI for advice. Do not discontinue without asking them first!

RINVOQ has a short half life and will be out of your system within days of stopping it. Which may be necessary to fight an infection but also risks bringing on a flare which makes it harder to fight an infection. Therefore

ASK your doctor immediately.

My GI lets people stay on it IF their symptoms are mild.

I had covid mid September and my GI advised me to stop Rinvoq.
The interesting part is that i went through covid with little issues, and then soon as i restarted Rinvoq i got a respiratory infection. So i stopped rinvoq again.
So be careful because Covid weakens your body and makes you prone to catching other diseases easier for people like us with compromised immune systems.
My mission now is to wear a mask everywhere, especially around my kids who bring home a new virus every week

D. Brasco you make a good point about covid weakening your immune system. I had been battling MRSA from Sept 2019-Feb 2020 and finally was feeling better but got Covid in March 2020. MRSA came back full force and ended up going to the hospital for both MRSA and covid. Once I healed from covid, my lymph glands on my neck were severely swollen and painful. Turns out I now had tonsilitis and dealt with that for 6 more weeks which was also incredibly painful. I missed like half a year of work that year. I do remember delaying most of my Simpini shots that year and having to stop Imuran completely.
