Should I stop Rinvoq while I’m having a cold or not?

This is the third time in a row that I get a cold/ corona infection while taking Rinvoq. Last time, my GI said I should continue it. I’m having fever (38.3 C) this time. Should I continue taking it or stop it?

To be on the safe side I would reach out to your dr. There is a difference between a cold & the corona virus, did you have a positive test?

I texted my GI and waiting for his reply. I think I’ll take the dose regularly as usual until I hear from him. I won’t make any changes.

I have never stopped xeljanz (same family as rinvoq) for a cold, but, I've never had more than a very mild fever.

The advice from my hospital was always to phone them if my temperature goes above 38. Did you do a covid test?

Corona virus or covid specifically? Many colds are corona virus.

Absolutely do not stop rinvoq during a cold or a flu. There is simply no reason to do that.

GI replied that I should stop Rinvoq for a couple of days until I feel better.

I don’t know whether you mean I had to stop Rinvoq because of coronavirus, yes, my GI said I had corona.
I asked him whether I should stop Rinvoq every time I have fever, he said yes too as there is fear that it might worsen infection.

I currently have covid. I don't have a fever. My hospital said it was fine to keep taking xeljanz as long as my symptoms stay mild and I don't get a fever.

I guess it depends on symptoms. My GI told me, back when I was taking Rinvoq, that if I felt really unwell I could stop it for a few days, or take it every second day.

I don't want to stop it 😆 But yes, in the start of the pandemic my hospital was advising stopping xeljanz for a week or so if you got covid. Now they say you can stay on it if symptoms are mild and temperature is below ~38.

Minnie..."Coronavirus" isn't Covid specifically...I'm just stating and hopefully clarifying that they aren't used interchangably, because there are colds caused by various coronaviruses. Just as colitis isn't Ulcerative Colitis specifically. I'm only focusing on the clarification of the term and puzzled that you and your doc are using it.

I don't know where minnie is located but in the country where I live, covid is informally referred to as "corona".

@poopydoop, Minnie lives in Canada. One thing I have learned over the years different countries are not on the same page when it comes to prescribing meds or dosages.

I think I used to say Corona and then decided that was too many syllables and switched Covid lol

Hi all
I used to use the same terms “coronavirus “ and “covid” interchangeably (lol). What I learnt is that whenever I have fever, I should stop Rinvoq for a couple of days until I get better. The problem is that I get a lot of recurrent infections whether they are caused by covid or coronavirus as almost all my previous swabs were positive. I didn’t have a test done this time.
