I’m a Crohnie and I post here as not a lot of Crohn’s patients are taking Rinvoq. I started Rinvoq 45 mg since mid August and went down to 30 mg 2 months ago. Ever since I lowered the dose, I started to feel pain in my lower right side (terminal ileum) an hour or more after I eat. I brought this up to the attention of my GI but he assured me that I would get better and prescribed antispasmodics. Had a colonoscopy last week and my GI was so happy and said your colon looks “so good”. Well, my colonoscopy has always been clean. This is the 9th colonoscopy btw. Still waiting for the results of the pathology assessment.
After the colonoscopy has been done, I stayed constipated for 7 days, so I took a strong laxative. Ever since last Wednesday, I have been having painful throbbing pain in my lower right quadrant. The pain is so severe that it doesn’t allow me to do my daily activities. I need to stay in bed all day. Sometimes, I have explosive diarrhea and urgency. I took solpadeine, dexamethasone injections, ketorolac tromethamine injections and every antispasmodic I could find. The pain is not relieved and sometimes it is in the form of spasm. My GI is traveling and will see him next week.
My question is: Do fellows here who take Rinvoq experience this painful throbbing abdominal pain? I failed Remicade after 7 years and also failed Stelara.
