Imminent knee surgery

I was diagnosed with UC in 2014 and have been on Pentasa prolonged release granules 2g daily as a maintenance dose since then. The last major flare I had was in 2019 and it lasted 6 months only finally brought back under control with the use of Salafalk Foam Enemas. I have been reasonably stable since then. I am due for surgery on my knee in March. My main concern up till now has been how I will manage the inevitable constipation due to painkillers following surgery however for the past few days I have been getting griping pains - (no diarrhoea and no blood). I am desperate for this not to develop into a flare because of my long awaited surgery. I am wondering if it might pay me to increase my Pentasa for a while?
