One year and two months on Rinvoq

Good morning all. Saw my gastro. doc. yesterday. This was my 2nd. visit with him...my new gastro doctor. After his blood testing and stool sample results, he told me yesterday that everything looked good! He agreed that I should remain on Rinvoq. THANK GOD!!! LOL Since I was a new patient for him, I was terribly worried that he would not renew my prescription for Rinvoq. He seems like a knowledgeable and kind doctor who actually listens to his patients. He did request a colonoscopy before my next visit; sheesh I managed to put it off until March. I've never had any noticeable side effects other than a little acne. That seems to be getting better also. Rinvoq has just been nothing but great so far. You guys stay well, safe, and please don't give up. This forum has been SO helpful to me over the years. Thank you everyone and enjoy the Springtime!!!!

It's nice to hear that you are doing well, I hope you have a very long remission. I wish more people would post about being in remission, it gives others hope.

Seems for those of us lucky enough to find remission, the drug responsible can differ greatly. I’m glad there are so many drugs available now but that also increases the length of time some have to spend in the half-life of living with the effects of the disease while trying to find the right drug. Sorry BG that you are still having to search. You’ve suffered enough with this disease. Hope you find your remission soon. I’m wondering if different people needing different drugs for remission is because our bodies all function in slightly different ways—not that our disease is different. Although that can probably be the case too.

There are a few known paradigms for UCers based on their medical history, such as prior-infection, or hormonal pregnancy/post-partum changes. I fall into the prior-infection medical history paradigm; about which my gastro explained that in many cases of relocation for archeological digs, a group of participants there may develop GI-infections that respond to available medical treatment, but 1-2 may go on to develop UC. That was apparently how post-infectious development came to IBD researchers' attention by late 20th century. Then they realized that some of those infectious agents are also present in many inhabited places around the world so that one can get infected without necessarily traveling somewhere more "exotic" or remote. The research proceeds slowly because there are so many variables to consider, plus other medical conditions that get priority for study and funding. / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)

Hi All,
I have a friend who was in the military with me and has been diagnosed with UC. She did her due diligence and read quite a bit of medical journals. She said that in all her research she found a supplement that has helped her symptoms. I Think it’s called RDLA. and she found it online.
