When is it time to think of surgery??

I have IBD since 2010 and 6mp kept me in full remission till 2021. Since 2021, I have mild symptoms mostly blood even on entyvio. If I have choice, I would get surgery as I am so occupied with IBD that I am not able to concentrate on other health issues. Last year I had infection "Perichondritis" infection of ear cartridge that took 3 rounds of antibiotics to get rid off. Got diagnosed with Osteoporosis and so many other issues. Problem is GI doctor doesn't connect all dots and he sees no issue with infection or anything.I would love to get rid of medication of colitis
My problem is I have colitis but it's indeterminate colitis. So worried that even after surgery, I might have to take medicine. My first GI told me they will monitor over years and so far it has stayed in my colon so more like Ulcerative colitis but that is the fear holding me to talk about surgery

@Twingirls -My first colonoscopy was in 2010 and I had inflammation only in sigmoid colon. very mild so GI gave diagnosis of Crohn's Colitis and Prometheus lab confirmed that. In 2013 I flared really bad and had new GI. He started from scratch with all test checking for infections, colonoscopy and Prometheus. He told me after colonoscopy that if it was mine first colonoscopy, he would say UC. Prometheus lab test came as "indeterminate" this time. I noticed though report was similar to 2010. Prometheus changed there reference values so it didn't say Crohns like first time.
At this point my GI said treatment is same so we will monitor how it progresses. After that I had colonoscopies in 2014, 2016,2019 and 2022. And so far ileum was always clear. In 2022 I had little inflammation in left colon. So still they don't want to call it UC and keeps Crohn's colitis diagnosis
Did you get surgery? if so how are you doing? I am planning to see some surgeons and see what they think

In regard to age at surgery: I went to chat with my GI several weeks before my surgery. I was 61 at Step 1 (colon removal, pouch formation, loop postomy created) and 62 at Step 2 (reconnection). My GI said that although some doctors/pracrices give a hard and fast rule, such as "no J Pouch surgery after age 65" or whatever, he prefers to take into account the physiological age of an individual. There are 65 year olds who seem "old" and others who seem quite youthful.
So.... talking to different doctors is very helpful, if you are thinking of surgery.
