Hi,

One week before the first 8 week dose of Entyvio, I started flaring with semi to non semi bms and urgency. I thought it could be a newly introduced food. I had that Entyvio infusion dose 5 days ago and have settled down.
I may need to change the infusions to less than 8 week intervals. ??? However, my calprotectin level was up from (1619) in Nov 23, to : (4614) March 15th. Not my highest...but concerning.
Other Lab Results: Hemoglobin - Low @ 109
Hematocrit - Low @ 0.34
Calcium- Low @ 2.08
My GP wants follow-up tests for the calcium. My fingernails are in bad shape and I have numbness in my hands and fi gers. I don't eat dairy, but try to get enough in foods and supplements. I am hoping to continue with the mezavant and Entyvio, but my diet needs a once over. Could years of 5ASA & Mezavant, and all the other meds I take, cause arthritis in my joints? My thumb and fingers have deformed a bit.

Any salicylate shouldn't cause issues in fingers or joints...however, in saying that, it seems to be contraindicated with fibromayalgia.

What's up re your fingernails? Nerve pressure / impingement or peripheral neuralgia would be an issue re tingling. Arthritis...have you had your hands xrayed to determine if anything else is going on?

Hi, until the end of November I received Entyvio every 4 weeks, I thought it was good seeing the decrease of the numbers of my stools but unfortunately the result of calprotectin was bad : almost 3000 and 5284 recently (6th March) with Stelara.
What was your worst result of calprotectin ? What does your gastroenterologist think about ?

Q...my nails have been brittle for years. They have ridges and split all the time now. It could be lack of calcium.

The numbness in my hands and fingers started about 2 months ago. At that time my neck bothered me and tingling pain shot down my left arm to my wrist and then fingers. If I pressed on my wrist I got electric pain.
Then, I developed bulge in my left wrist that remains, and when I make a fist. It's really prominent. A few weeks later, my right hand, wrist and especially the thumb began to tingle with pain. My thumb clicks in and out. No more tingling, just aching pain in both hands and fingers. I went for Xrays today.

Titou...my highest Calprotectin test I had was well over 5000. I have not heard back from my Gastroenterologist. My bowls are changing hourly. I had bad left sided pain and passed mucus last evening, then had my first formed
bm today. So what gives?

I hope the X-Rays give you a sense of what is happening with your arms/hands. My nails are always brittle when I am flaring. I find taking collagen helps with them but really healing the gut is what makes them better. Hope you start feeling better soon.
