Good luck Michele! I hope it is an easy recovery for you and the pain is gone! I always feel like any added issues on top of UC just sucks. Like give me a break. One bad disease is enough for me thank you!

I felt so much better after surgery/stent removal. My back didn't hurt as much and it just felt better. My sister had the surgery and she passed little tiny sand particles for about a week. Her doctor had her strain and save both the urine and the particles. She did not have a stent.

I had a stent and I did not have to do that. I probably passed some little pieces but I didn't feel it. The stent helps with that.

I hope your doctor sends your stone in to be analyzed... My friend had an analysis on hers and then worked with a dietician.....

So every person is different.

Had most of my procedures at NYU hospital here in long island(Mineola). One I had at there satellite office

All will be gone. Dr at one point gave me Hydramophone which is morphine bc my stones were a chronic issue. Once he gave me potassium citrate no more issues. The pain with stones is incredible and I've been sliced and diced with surgeries
I'm grateful the citrate is helping me.

Glad you were able to get your procedure moved up, Michele, and wish you a quick recovery with good follow-up info RE diet. In 16th century French lit class we had to read Montaigne's essays, where he sometimes lamented having to pass a kidney stone with unrelieved pain and even bleeding for hours in his unheated castle during chilly, bleak winters. (No indoor plumbing!) He tried to keep philosophical about his suffering, and finally decided that the purpose of illness is to prepare us for death. That poor man! Reading about his ordeals comforted me during my early years trying to find long-lasting relief from UC flares! *** Take good care and rest up so that you can get back to us soon. / Old Hat (40+ years with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal.)

I got home after 10 last night. I was very sick from the anesthesia. Surgeon took out two small stones from left kidney and the one big stone from the right kidney and put in a stent. Stent is uncomfortable and burns when I pee.
Back does feel better and this morning I have very very little nausaua.

3timechamp: I'm in Staten Island. I went to NYU Langone at 550 First Avenue, between 31st and 33rd.

The meds they gave are diclofenac; (as needed), silodosin for the next five days, and one antibiotic that I have to take an hour before the stent comes out.

Quincy: the stone will be analyzed. I NEVER want to go through this again. I'm curious what the analysis will show. I am a healthy eater. I don't eat fast foods. I cook all my own food and try to be as healthy as possible.

I have read on medical websites that once a person gets kidney stones they should not take addiction calcium, get it from our foods. I'm suppose to take it with my vitamin d because of severe osteoporosis & I will not take it. I passed a kidney stone many years & I don't ever want to experience that kind of pain again.

Quincy; The stent comes out on Monday. I cannot wait until they analyze the stone. Then, I'll know what to do or what not to do.

I feel a lot less nausea today. Just very uncomfortable with the stent. Thank goodness my job lets me work from home during this.

You can get kidney stones from poor diet, genetics, etc.....For me, I know my diet is good but you never know. Maybe something I'm eating is not good or something I'm not eating I should be eating.

So glad you woke up after surgery and are feeling somewhat better.

The stent is a PITA....but it really does get better every day. Those are some of the same meds they gave me. Ditto on the antibiotic pill right before stent removal.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. My urologist said that people with IBD are more prone to developing stones.
