You've been missed.,Its just not the same without you about!Hopefully when you get over these current health issues you can get back to your oldself and back to your bike:):):):):).

Yes it is a wonderful blessing to have our friend Dave back with us...he has been missed and you my friend have been in our thoughts and prayers.  Hope you are recovering and soon you are back to your old self.  Do you have to do PT?  They are truly S&M people - heheheh but no pain no gain as they say!

Dave...I can only imagine what you've been through, but I'm relieved to hear the surgery went well and that you're on the road to recovery.

I hope physio helps with the pain as well as gets you mobile.

I'm sure I am on the road to recovery, but it sure doesn't feel like it just yet hee hee, the slightest movement in my neck has me jumping out of my skin

My surgeon believes that all is gonna be fine within time, so the bikes aren't for sale just yet

I get my stitches out and another X ray on Monday, I guess I can walk round then without this stupid dressing/plaster itching my throat like crazy

Physiotherapy which is normally done by my medical centre is actually being done at the hospital, my surgeon believes his team are the best qualified, phew the experiences I have had previously with my health care team I am jumping for joy knowing I'll get proper care hee hee.

The surgeon removed a disc out of my neck (C6) or (C7) and replaced it with a plastic one, apparently it together with another one prolapsed no idea why The one he removed was dangerous apparently and I was close to being paralysed. The second disc is higher up but apparently not as dangerous, he was going to remove them both at the same time but decided against because too risky, he now feels I might not need to have the other removed although, he will make a decision once swelling etc. has gone.

Apparently it was meant to take an hour but I was under for over 3.

He said he had no idea why it's happened, I first thought of Pred being to blame but he didn't offer any suggestions.

When I met him for the first time he basically told me that I have 2 Prolapsed discs, showed me the pictures and then proceeded to tell me that without surgery I didn't have a chance my pain would soon increase and I would finally be paralysed, he further said that there were of course risks with surgery and that surgery could also result in paralysis.

All the questions I wrote down just became so irrelevant, I looked at Mandy in what must have been deep shock and asked her what I should do, I have never known her to be so quiet hee hee, she said that she couldn't advise me on any decision, I had to make that 100%, but of course she would support me fully whatever happened, I gotta tell you it was the scariest day of my life.

After the surgery, the Army hospital liaison officer who had been present during the first meet with the surgeon told me that she thought I knew I was in such a serious state, but I didn't I really did not have a clue! It was only thanks to my rheumatologist in the first place that I saw the surgeon, he wasn't happy that what I thought was the arthritis pain in my hands, arms, shoulder and neck was increasing and so booked me in for an MRI scan, I think it was the day after the MRI scan the receptionist from the medical centre phoned me on my mobile phone and told me that something had shown up on the MRI and I had an appointment with a neurosurgeon!

The receptionist could not tell me any more info, so I went to the medical centre in a bit of a panic, and within minutes I had seen the practice manager and a doctor, I was signed off work straight away and apologised to for finding out in that manner ha ha good old Military
