Weird smelling palms....

Ok...this is just wacked......For about the last year, about ever couple of months I will notice that I get a VERY PUNGENT (kinda like a cross between mildew, fungus and skunk cabbage) smell coming from both my palms.  I try everything to get the smell to go away, but nothing works.  Not bleach, lemon juice, vinigar.....nothing.  Anyways, thats not the weird part.....since my UC has really been active (the last 2.5 months)  I usually have constipation and then every 4 - 7 days I have a major bowel eveactuation at 4am.  The evacuation usually starts off being typical constipation nuggets, then turn to more formed pencil type poops, which then turn into "D".  Well, the last part of the evacuation, the "D", is the nastiest smelling thing which smells EXACTLY like the stink that comes from my palms.  Now, Im guessing that the last part of the evacuation is the stool that has been stuck high up in the lower intestine or the end of the small intestine, but how would that smell be absorbed from my intestinal track to end up being extruded through my palms, not my pits or anywhere else, just my palms. 

I should probably mention this to my doc.  He will probably think Im nuts.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I noticed the smell before I started on my meds....I noticed it about a year ago.  I sleep on my stomach with my hands by my face and the smell is so bad that it actually will wake me up.

Yes....others can smell it. My brother-in-law is a military medic and he took a wiff of them on day.  He kinda kringed and said that it smelled like mildewy or rotting fungus.

Nothing else on me smells except my palms...and its not all the time.  Usually if my palms start to stink, the next day I dont feel very well.  Its almost like a pre-cursor to feeling like garbage.

I have tried to do a search on it but havent really come up with anything substantial.  If anyone is bored and find anything on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

I havent tried a ph test strip.

I run a Emergency Receiving Home for Foster Kids.  No fancy chemicals or anything.

I use Bounty paper towels.

It is kinda weird though.  Be interesting to find out if its connected in some way.  I was talking with my brother-in-law (the Medic) again today and he was saying that if I had some kind of a fungal infection, it could manifest pretty much anywhere through-out the body, but he thinks that it is kinda strange that the odor is limited to the intestine and palms but nowhere else.  Then that got me to thinking about how some people on the board do that anti-fungal cleansing thing and was wondering if there might be a connection with that.  Who knows.

How do your nails look?  Do your hands sweat alot?  Could you have a nail fungus?

My nails look great.  They grow fine and are normal color.  Dont really have very sweaty anything except for the back of my head and neck when I sleep (think thats because of Pred.)

Could be a lot of things. In the past I had issues like that with my underarms and sometimes with my whole body, usually when flaring badly. What I did was use anti-fungal creams on the area for a few days and I stopped consuming sweets, cheeses and breads during that time.

I've also been recently using Bounty paper towels! My roomy buys them.

Maybe you could try not taking your probiotic for a week and see if the symptoms you are experiencing go away.

Are you on any meds currently ?
