My daughter started 6-mp just over 2 weeks ago. This was her 2nd flare (exactly the same time as last years). Anyway the doctor originally put her on 40 mg of prednisone. Didn't really help. He upped it to 60 mg. Didn't really help. We had spoken about
6-mp but were being stubborn. Had another colonoscopy (showed inflammation, duh). Started 6-mp the next day (October 31). Ironically bratcat started feeling better by the weekend. We know it probably is not the 6-mp but after a month at high dose prednisone not working, all of a sudden she is responding?!
Anyway, for the most part she is doing well. She has some things happening to her body but can't say if it because of the medicines or the weather change.
Prednisone gave her moonface almost immediately this time. Also the acne on the face.
She did start to get a headache (6-mp or sinuses from the weather?)
She has an irritation on her skin (lower legs mostly) (6-mp or the cold weather?)
Because she is feeling better (UC-wise) and we don't know what is a side effect and what is just weather related or aches from exercising, she is feeling that 6-mp is a good med for her.
All her bloodwork is coming back good with the 6-mp. Of course, her bloodwork always came back good even when she was flaring.
I hope both our daughters do well on the 6-mp.
