It's sweet from the dextrose, but not nearly as sweet as something made with white sugar. I think
it tastes good. It's definitely not cake though!
In the unmodified recipe from the Bob's Red Mill package, it used eggs and a 1/4 cup of white sugar.
I had to double the amount of dextrose to make it sweeter. It didn't have any flaxseed meal. Eggs
bind baked goods together, and vegans use flaxseed meal in place of eggs in their baked goods.
I tried making it with honey, but honey gives me gas. If you want to try honey, use a 1/4 cup or less
since honey is much sweeter than dextrose too. Maybe even just 2 tablespoons of honey.
Dextrose is also used when making homemade beer, for the curious. It is also the white fluffy stuff
that is mixed with artificial sugar to make "Splenda".
