Hi everyone, its maribel. well i was here before a while back. i was doing good till now. well i've had UC for 3 years now. ive been takeing 2mg of prednisone and asacol 3 pills 3x aday. im barely tapering the pred, been on it for 3 years. till my doctor changed me 10 weeks ago to 2mg of pred and 3 pills of colazal 750 mg once a day. my doctor changed me not my GI, so ive been in flare for 3 days now. i stoped the colozal my self and i went back to asacol, ''did i do wrong''? will it make it worse? i have a GI appt till 3 weeks. ive been haveing lots of moucus and it looks like a little light blood just spoting. im so scared ive only been in flare once in 3 years i need help please        maribel confused

Hi maribel....welcome back!

You should call the doc and ask for a rectal retention enema such as Rowasa if you're in the US...Salofalk if you're not.

Did you go back to the 9 daily of asacol?

I don't think you did wrong...but you could have had the doc increase the Colazal instead of continuing the Asacol...you could probably switch back.

But please, please, please start a rectal med

I just changed asacol last night. so i took them only last night, and this morning. should i go back to colazal?

i think you should stick with them and call the doc tomorrow...tell him what you did and request the rectal retention meds..

Have you not used them in the past?

I just spoke to an advice nurse and she told me not to take neither one for tonight, and call my doc tomorrow morning to see what he says which one to take. No ive never took them, but ill ask him tomorrow if i can take them. Thanks quincy i was so scared i tought i had done something so wrong i was going to end up in the hospital. and once again thank you so much       maribel
