I had a colonoscopy this morning.  I noticed last night when I did the prep I had a little blood and a sore anus.

I haven't seen blood since November.  After the colonoscopy I noticed more blood in my stool.  Is this normal? 

Could it be a hemmoriod or could the scope irritate the colon causing it to bleed? 

As far as my UC goes - I'm healing , but still have about 12 inches inflamed, but not bleeding.

The prep can aggravate any hemorrhoids you may have. It can also irritate the anal mucous membranes so much that you get a little bleeding. I use A&D ointment when I get soreness, but any good barrier cream will also help heal the area.

What prep did you use? I would agree with Judilyn's explanation & just add that bleeding after the colonoscopy would likely be from biopsy irritation. Plus if you still have active UC, the passage of the scope over inflamed tissue tends to increase symptoms there, at least temporarily, I'd say from my own experience. Be sure to resume your meds & take caution with diet for about a week or ten days, especially if you had any polyps removed. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC; currently on 3 Colazal daily for maintenance of remission)

I used the Fleet Phospho-soda EZ-Prep. I drank about 80 oz of water with this prep. My first colonoscopy I used the gallon prescription stuff. That was 15 months ago and I had active colitis then. Now, I really have not had any symptoms, but the doctor says it is still has some inflammation . I don't think I had any polyps. He said the rest of my colon looked good.

It's normal to bleed for about 3 days after a scope because of the biopsies. And I sometimes bleed too with the prep. It irritates things in there because of the nature of the prep and because you already had some inflammation, it could be that you were just "fragile" in there.

i hadnt flared in years, then not long after my last colonoscopy i went in to a huge flare and ended p in the hospital..wierd thing was, he said my colon looked pretty good!
