I went out and ate Mexican food tonight. Enchiladas. Spicy enchiladas.
Very
spicy. Thank goodness I at least resisted the beans and margaritas. I know I'll have a price to pay for this.
Hang in there for me, Remicade.
Pray for me, please.

Taco bell for lunch yesterday followed by eating out - strip steak and side of angel hair w/ oil and garlic. I paid all day. Still paying.

Done, Tab.
So far, so good. No gurgling or gas yet. I've been doing really well, and can eat almost everything I used to, but this is the first time I've challenged my colon with food this spicy. After being in a constant flare for the first five years, I'm really cautious generally.

It won't cause you to flare....maybe too much fat/spice will loosen your stool for a day or two..or once it's all out.
Try not to worry too much about
it...especially since you limited your intake and didn't totally throw caution to the "wind"..or lack there of. lol!
Hope you enjoyed it.

It was wonderful, Heather. I'm mostly concerned that it would be like molten lava when it comes out. Sometimes my transit time is still a little quick. But hey, you eat something wonderful, you pay the price when needed.

Judy - I think it's good you did it to the degree that you gotta stick a toe out there now and then and test the waters a bit, right? as someone who right now is eating a VERY limited diet in the hopes of getting my brewing flare to simmer down, I can at least live vicariously through you for a second, as I miss mexican A LOT..... I hope you're feeling well today, and if not, it'll pass soon. something tells me remicade can handle a little pepper... :)

Hey, I was flaring this week....the meds have me now feeling "normal" again. I had sechewan chinese last night and today I'm "normal"...so, meds are working....and even though I would have still eaten it and would have accepted it coming out in a hurry...it wouldn't have changed the status of my flare.
I'm not afraid to eat what I enjoy....nor should you. Choose when you eat it and accept that not all foods will be accepted readily by an inflamed colon. But, don't punish yourself emotionally each time you eat what you want.....
I do and have always had my cake and eaten it too....for people with normal colons will have diarrhea after eating spicy foods.
It's basically a comfort thing. If eating certain foods cause discomfort, don't eat them...especilaly if they interfere with functioning in any way.
If certain foods give some comfort emotionally....go for it, at least you'll know what to expect.
you can't punish yourself at every moment....darned if you do, darned if you don't so to say.

I'm still doing great. In fact, I'd been taking an Immodium every morning (with my GI's approval), and I'm getting a bit stopped up, so I'm stopping it as of tomorrow. I hope Remicade works for me forever.
The chicken enchilada was soooo good....

i have been able to eat spicy foods with cheese and hot sauce lately! woohoo!!
with no problems the next day or any day after.
i am so excited.
i actually have been able to eat and drink (alcohol) anything i want and havent had any issue whatsoever!
i always eat what i want when i want cuz it makes me feel good (except when i am having issues on the can) but sometimes thats worth it cuz why be miserable all the time. gotta enjoy something!
glad to hear you made it thru!!
